What happens next

Three steps from application to first job

Same workflow whether you join PAYE or as a subcontractor. One named hiring lead per route reviews CVs and runs the intro call.

  1. CV review, 5 working days

Your CV is read by the hiring lead for your route. If it fits an open job we book a 20-minute introductory call. If it does not, we still reply.

  2. Intro call & trial

Subcontractors run a paid trial job alongside a lead. PAYE candidates do a working interview with the operations lead and meet the wider team.

  3. Onboard & first scope

Insurance, certs, ID and right-to-work check. We brief you on our reporting standards, give you your first scope, and a named lead is on call for week one.

Frequently asked

Recruitment questions answered

Quick answers to questions we hear most often. If yours is not here, drop it in the message field on the form or call 020 3488 2247.

Do I need to be third-party certified to apply?

Not always. For installers and inspectors we strongly prefer FIRAS, FDIS, BM TRADA or equivalent, and will support certification fees for the right candidate. For fire risk assessors, IFSM Tier 3 NFRAR or NEBOSH-led credentials are expected. Tell us where you are on the form, we hire experienced people who are working towards a cert as well as those already certified.

What does the day rate look like for subcontractors?

Rates depend on route, certification, autonomy and whether you bring your own kit and van. Indicative bands are shared on the introductory call. Work is allocated against a fixed-price proposal, you are not on the clock against vague hourly tickets.

How is work allocated, will I always have enough?

We run a steady book of compliance work for landlords, block managers, freeholders, social housing providers and care homes. Work is allocated route by route, week by week. Candidates with broad qualifications (e.g. EICR + emergency lighting + fire alarm) are usually fully booked.

Where will I be working?

All 32 London boroughs, plus the Home Counties on request. We try to cluster jobs by borough to keep your travel sensible. London-based candidates with their own van usually take more outer-borough scopes by choice.

Do you support CPD and progression?

Yes. We part- or fully fund CPD where it links to a route we hire for, FDIS Diploma, NEBOSH National Certificate, BS 8214 / BS 5266 / BS 5839 short courses, NICEIC scheme upgrades. Conversation happens at the intro call and we are explicit about cost-share before you commit.

What about IR35 and umbrella?

Subcontractors are engaged outside IR35 where the working pattern genuinely supports it (own kit, own van, multiple clients, fixed-price work). For inside-IR35 scopes we use a reputable umbrella, deductions are explained on the call. PAYE candidates are direct employees from day one.

How do you handle my data?

Your CV and the form details go straight to the hiring lead for your route. Nothing is shared with third parties or added to a marketing list. We retain unsuccessful applications for 12 months in case a fitting role opens, then we delete. Full detail in our Privacy Policy.
